A splendid evening spent with Mr. Eric Bachman of Archers of Loaf. His new band, Crooked Fingers, played last night at the world famous Cooler Lounge. Trav and I co-promoted this show (mainly because I already had a great surf band called the Cocktail Preachers booked for last night, and Fuzz went and told Trav he could have the date for Crooked Fingers, so we combined our efforts, did a bit of changing around of the lineup, and presto: instant indie rock show). The Cocktail Preachers were great. Cool as hell surf band from Chicago (don't imagine much surfing going on in Shy Town, but...). Eric Bachman was a genlteman. Very polite, very humble. I saw him open for Wilco at the HOB in March and it was just him solo. Last night he had 2 other members in his band. One guy played a standup bass, while the other switched off between steel guitar and banjo(?!?). What an amazing combination of instruments. They were so amazing. The performance was incredible. They even jumped off the stage and did a couple of songs acoustically...no amps, no mics, nothing. And of course, in true Las Vegas fashion, there was like 20 people there. I swear, people out here wouldn't know a good concert if it fell out of the sky, hit them on the head, and started humping their legs. Crooked Fingers should have had a crowd of at least 200. Any other town it would have been that way. Regardless, Eric and I talked for a little while. We chatted about the new EP (all cover songs), and about the tour in general. He even posed for a picture with me. It'll probably be up on my diary before too long...maybe I'll replace that pic of me with the Supersuckers. My boys Amber Halo played after Crooked Fingers and were fantastic. It's the first time I've heard the band as a whole cover Boilermaker, Chokebore, Treepeople, and Ween. Nice additions to their already rockin' set.

"Blurry eyes half bent and I can't take you sober. Tricking off the rotting strip that we've been trudging under. We ducked into a dim lit room out where the river bends. And turned to walk the burning bridge that we would build. And crossed our hearts half hoping. That we could both quit smoking. And kick the booze and blow. And one day go make something of ourselves."

Tonight we kick off our new DJ night at Hush on the 19th floor of the Polo Towers on the fabulous Las Vegas Strip. Overpriced drinks, great music, and an overwhelming view of the Strip should make for an interesting evening. Free to all.

"Isn't that something?"

"It is actually..."

Come on down fellow Vegans (that's Las Vegans, not Vegetarians...although they're welcome too).

When will I get some sleep?

FUCK - OFF
