14 daze.
Saturday, Dec. 07, 2002 - 11:57 am Now Playing: Rocket From The Crypt "Dead Seeds" "Blow up. Dead on the vine. I hope your leaves never fall off. Blow up. Lamp's for the blind. Revenge, deceit. Dead seeds will always grow." Like Depeche Mode, I need to shake the disease. I can't seem to finally rid myself of this sore throat. Just when I think it's gone, it pulls me back in. I need to finish taking my anti-biotics, so I can get rid of this nonsense before, well before she comes to visit. 14 days and counting. Remember when you first found out that a girl/boy liked you "in that way?" Remember how giddy you felt? Remember how silly and retardedly happy you were? Remember how excited you were just to see that person, whether you could talk to them or not? It's that sense of excitement that I, for one, rarely get these days. I think as we grow older, we lose the ability to enjoy certain things the way we used to. That's why it's so refreshing to feel this way again. Thanks Meg, I can't wait to see you. Sucking down a glass of pulp-free, calcium enriched Tropicana Orange Juice, listening to RFTC, gearing up for another boring night of work, and smiling like the cheshire cat. 2 weeks. 2 weeks. ******************************************************* I saw Zwan the other night. Billy and Jimmy from Smashing Pumpkins, one of the guys from Slint, and the chick from A Perfect Circle. They sounded like Smashing Pumpkins lite. But I still really enjoyed it. Not nearly as rocking at SP, but still good. And very little feedback during the live performance, and the one thing I remember from seeing SP so many times is that they were always noisy, feedbacky. Zwan is different... A couple of days ago, I saw the video for Sparta's "Cut Your Ribbon," and I also saw them perform the same song on Conan. I have a newfound appreciation for them. I liked them before, now I think I love them. I really can't wait to see them live. I got chills watching them on Conan. The Doors were scheduled to play Vegas tomorrow. But their drummer broke his arm, so it's been postponed until January. I have a problem with this...because it's not really the Doors. It's Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger...the only 2 original members, with Ian Astbury (of the Cult) singing, and Stewart Copeland (of the Police) on skins. While this may well be a great show, it should not, by any means, be advertised as a Doors concert. It's just like DH Peligro, East Bay Ray, and Klaus Flouride performing as the Dead Kennedys. I say, when a founding member, the MOST IMPORTANT founding member is gone, then the band is different and should change their name. It's just common courtesy. I just heard that the singer for Midnight Oil has left the band after like 20 years. Now, Midnight Oil are by no means as legendary as the Doors or Dead Kennedys, but can you imaging anyone OTHER than the balding Michael Berrymore lookalike singing "Beds are Burning" or "Forgotten Years?" There comes a time to just throw in the towel and hang it up, guys. "But guilty thorns will break off, and tear you up inside."
