return to the island of no return.
Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002 - 7:34 pm Now Playing: Pavers "Fight 15" "And I said 'If fight 15 is what you want, well ready go girl, bring it on. Fight 15 - you're about to learn how sweaty fist fights turn me on.'" I went into Big B's yesterday to get one CD. 4 Cds, $84, and a buttload of records later, here's what I escaped with. Q & Not U "Different Damage" CD Blood Brothers "March On Electric Children" CD Black Widows "Stops A Beating Heart" CD Quanuum Spectrum CD Supergrass "I Should Coco" LP Ben Folds Five "Whatever & Ever Amen" LP Bog Log III "School Bus" LP Jane's Addiction "nothing's Shocking" LP Cibo Matto "Viva! La Woman" LP Pizzicato Five "Made in USA" LP Cibo Matto "Stereo Type A" LP Modest Mouse "Lonesome Crowded West" LP 764-HERO "Get Here & Stay" LP Modest Mouse "The Fruit That Ate Itself" LP Beck "One Foot In The Grave" LP I thought I was loaded up on new music for a while (well, technically the LP's aren't "new music" since I have them all on CD, but whatever). The Q & Not U is good...not as good as the first record though. I've only listened to it 5 times, I need to listen more. The Black Widows is a band I mentioned a while ago. Andy got it last time I was in L.A, and it's really cool. The Blood Brothers rock...they're going on tour with The Used and Taking Back Sunday soon...not quite sure how that happened, but... And The Quanuum Spectrum Cd is a great hip-hop comp from 1999 with Dj Shadow, Souls of Mischief, J5, Divine Styler and a bunch of others. It's funky as hell. Then when I opened my mailbox today, I was blessed with a couple of packages. In one was the new EP from the Drama...my friends from Sacramento. And if that wasn't good enough, I also got a package from my beloved Pavers. Not one, but 2 new EPs ("Taco or Tamborine" and "Beautiful"), and a whole new album ("Return to the Island of No Return"). All three are exceptional, but "Return to the Island..." has provided the soundtrack to my day. I must have listened to it 10 times or more as I spent 7+ fucking hours cleaning my office. Yes, my office is now clean, and orderly. I spent so long cleaning it because Meg's coming to visit in 8 days, and I don't want to frighten her with filth. Meg's coming in 8 days. Yessssssssssssssss... Jesse Dayton tonight at Venus. He'll be there Fri, Sat, and Sun too but that doesn't matter because I have different shows on Saturday (G.F.I. and bronson) and Sunday (Grand Buffet) at the Rock that everyone will be going to. I hope. Long weekend of good music.... "And I am not my type. I've known myself most of my life."
