Now Playing: The Kinson - track 3

Thanks to Andy for burning this Kinison EP, it's fucking incredible. He also burned me the Libertines, and I'm so digging that too.

And Of course, Jon was kind enough to burn me like 15 CDs. I am in love with Sage Francis and Quasimoto. D-Rocc told me a little about Quasimoto, and I'm totally fascinated wih him now.

So, I spent the weekend in So Cal with Juawana, Sara, Dre, Andy, and the lovely Megan. We had such a great time. Disneyland and Disney California Adventure all day Saturday, Social Distortion at the HOB Anaheim Saturday night, and Los Angeles on Sunday. The weather was exquisite and the company was perfect.

It was so great to spend time away from Vegas wih my best friends, my girls, and my lovely Miss Megan.

I tried on my suit for Andy's wedding, and I must say, it looks pretty sharp. If I knew how to, I'd put a link up right here to show you a picture of the suit, but I'm not that proficient in the ways of the Diaryland. Trust me though, they're badass suits.

A not-so-quick trip to Ameoba allowed me to pick up a few things I've been after. Also, a raid of Dre's unwanted CDs, and a for-the-most-part-cool selection of CDs from Andy (I just can't forgive you for the A Simple Plan or Trey Anastacio CDs) made my music haul this weekend quite impressive. Here's what I nabbed:

From Amoeba:

Drag The River "Closed" CD

Against Me! "The Disco Before The Breakdown" CD

Duvall/Seville "This Time Everything is Mine" Spilt CD

Mike Felumlee/Dan Andriano Split CD

Keep Left: A Benefit For David Barsamian Vol. 1 CD

From Andy (crap excluded):

The Kinison "Mortgage Is Bank EP" CD

The Libertines "Up The Bracket" CD

Massive Attack "100th Window" CD

Caretaker Self Titled CD

Porcupine Tree "In Absentia" CD

A Break From The Norm CD

Faultline "Your Love Means Everything" CD

Elvis Costello "Selections from Armed Forces, Imperial Bedroom, and Mighty Like a Rose" CD

Rhett Miller "The Instigator" CD

Glassjaw "Worship and Tribute" CD

From Dre's Collection:

Mighty Mighty Bosstones "A Jackknife To A Swan" CD

The Catheters "Static Delusions and Stone-Still Days" CD

Randy "Cheater" CD

Sahara Hotnights "Jennie Bomb" CD

Spoon "Kill The Moonlight" CD

Hot Hot Heat "Make Up The Breakdown" CD

Quasi "Field Studies" CD

Cornelius "Point" CD

Richard Ashcroft "Human Conditions" CD

Dan The Automator "Wanna Buy A Monkey" CD

How We Rock CD

Nice little haul, I must say.

Drag The River is the country side project from Chad Price of ALL, and Jon Snodgrass of Armchair Martian.

Duvall is the Smoking Popes reborn with a different bass player.

Mike Felumlee is the drummer for Smoking Popes/Duvall. He also played drums on Alkaline Trio's album "From Here To Infirmary."

Dan Andriano is in Alkaline Trio and Tuesday.

The Kinison is an amazing new band Andy and I stumbled upon at This Ain't No Picnic in October.

A Break From The Norm is a compilaton of songs that Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) has sampled in his music.

Rhett Miller is in Old 97's.

The Dan The Automator Cd is a collection of songs he's remixed by the likes of Doves, Lovage, Air, De La Soul, Fantomas, Gorillaz, Dilated Peoples, Bobby Digital, etc.

How We Rock is a compilation from Burning Heart/Epitaph records featuring Supersuckers, Turbonegro, Zeke, Dwarves, The Hellacopters, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, RFTC and more.

I miss Megan so much. We had a lovely visit, and it scares me not knowing when I'll be able to see her again.

And hanging out with Dre and Andy again is making that possible move to L.A. sound pretty damn good.

And when I got back into town, I checked my messages. Here's what one said:

"Hey Ryan, it's Lindsay...you know, Spade's manager..."

Um yeah, that'd be David Spade's manager calling me at home. Holy shit, DAVID FUCKING SPADE! I met Lindsay and Spade in May or June when I took care of David for the Norm MacDonald show at HOB. David, in turn, put me on the list for his own show the next night. Anyways, she was calling to see if I could hook them up for the club on Saturday night at HOB, which I could have, but I was out of town. Anyways, I called her back and told her that I was out of town, and that next time it'd be no problem.

Lunch time.

FUCK - OFF
