Sunday, Jun. 22, 2003 - 12:26 pm Now Playing: Alkaline Trio "Metro" I think I like Alkaline Trio's version of this song better than Berlin's original version. Last night I made my feature film acting debut in an independent movie called American Soul. My friend Jaybird wrote and is directing. My new friend Jon Brooks is producing. I never realized how tedious film making can be on such a small level. Funny that I never noticed that seeing as I used to be a film major. Anyways, so we crammed into this super cool little cabin at Mt. Charleston, stood around in a faux party setting drinking and waiting while they lit the room, and set the shot, and rehearsed, and urged us to keep drinking, and argued. After a couple of runthroughs (in which Jaybird told me to act "more drunk"), I was ready for my scene. After a confrontation between Jaybird and his nemesis in the film, Wiz said his line. Then I chimed in: "I'm here man, I live here too. What's up?" Then Miah pulls me back, steps in, and says something totally similar to what I just said, but it sounded way cooler because he's black. And thus cinematic history was made. Later in the night, we retired to this cool tiny little basement, where 6 of us sat in a circle, smoked fake pot out of a coke can, and "acted totally trashed" at Jaybird's request. I'll tell you by that time, I didn't really need to ACT totally trashed. American Soul will be finished in a few months, then it'll do the festival circuit, starting in Japan. If all goes well there, the boys will bring it back home to the good ol' U.S. of A to find domestic distribution. I can't wait to see if I make it in the final cut of the film, or if my cinematic legacy ends up on the cutting room floor. I'm so Hollywood yo.
