Let me start off by saying that the much hyped, WAY over rated performance from Insecto Circus last night totally sucked ass. There was no insecto (unless you count lite up antennae that each band member placed on top of his or her head), and there was no circus whatsoever. Where were the clowns, the acrobats, the fire breathers and everything else that was mentioned in the stories on this band? And the music...good god, the music. Some really bad alt-funk-metal played VERY poorly. The so called band managed to drag out their start time until midnight, leaving most of us waiting for 2 hours. And, when they finally came on, not a single applaud could be heard. No one was digging it. Sadly, most everyone statred filing out of the Double Down shortly after it became apparent that this band would not live up to the hype and deliver the goods.
Lame.
So, here's your warning...avoid the Insecto Circus at all costs. If they come to your town, run far far away.

Ok, so I'm having trouble listening to all of this stuff because I can't fucking stop listening to Criteria and Pinback. Criteria is the new band featuring the singer from The White Octave, and dare I say it, Criteria is EVEN BETTER than the White Octave.
The Pinback EP is brilliant. I don't know what else to say about it. Track 2 is sooo great...
The Jealous Sound is my friend Pedro's band. Oh yeah, some guy named Blair from some band called Knapsack is in the band too.
The Aereogramme CD I've had forever, but I finally picked up a copy with artwork.
Mondo Gemnerator is the side projoct of Nick Oliveri from Queens of the Stone Age and Dwarves. THis Cd is really good, although I've only listened to it once since I'm fucking hooked on Criteria.
Northern State is that "up and coming" white chick hip hop group that's been getting a bit of press lately. I had to check it out. The 1/2 listen I gave it so far is not too impresive, but I'll give it another shot.
Quasi's new Cd is on Touch and Go. Weren't they on Up or Sub Pop before? I wonder what happened.
Supagroup is a new Supersuckers-esque rock and roll band that'll be in Vegas soon. My friend Chris (who runs the Supersuckers record label) sent me the CD and told me to check them out. I haven't yet.
Speaking of the Supersuckers, I just confirmed the first ever Las Vegas solo appearance of Eddie Spaghetti...lead singer of the greatest rock and roll band in the world The Supersuckers. He'll be playing August 26th at The Boston with my pride and joy, FFI.
Tonight is supposedly the last episode of Futurama. I'll be in mourning for 2 weeks.
Reno 911! is the funniest new show I've seen in a long time. I'm so glad to see the gang from The State back at it again...with much deserved success.
I got my pass to the preview of Freddy Vs. Jason on Friday. I get to see the movie I've been waiting 11 years for on Tuesday. I'm SO FUCKING EXCITED. And I'm such a fucking dork too.
I can't tell if the guy Matthew that Ivy brought to the show last night was hitting on my lovely girlfriend, or if he was just being friendly. When my girl wasn't talking to him, he was looking her up and down in a less than friendly manor, but maybe I'm paranoid. It doesn't matter anyways, because I'm the one who gets to go home with her every night.
Sucker.
